Boy Scouts of America, Jersey Shore Council, welcomes Craig H. Shelly, as the new Scout Executive. Craig will lead the Jersey Shore Council as it strives to continue its tradition of quality growth and bringing Scouting to underserved areas of our community as well as sustaining, improving and expanding Scouting programs. The council has also completed a ¾ mile Nature Activity Trail at the Joseph A. Citta Scout Reservation with the goal of the trail being to provide an outdoor experience to youth and their families that encourage education and understanding of our natural resources within the Barnegat Bay Watershed. Brick Optimist Club introduces their Second Annual Night at the Races, an audience-participation fundraising event whereby actual horse races have been videotaped using five cinematography cameras and narrated by many of America ’s top-rated announcers and shown to the audience on wide screen TV’s to recreate the atmosphere of being at the track. Place your bets, with supplied play money, then root and cheer for your favorite horses from the start of the care to the finish line. It will be held on Sat. May 10th, from 6- 10 pm at the VFW, 373 Adamston Road . The cost is $35 per person and includes appetizers, two free drink tickets, $50 in betting bucks, entertainment, fun and prizes. Brick Township Memorial High School Marching Mustangs presents a 2008 Golf Outing. May 31st Sea Oaks Country Club located at 99 Golf View Drive in Little Egg Harbor. Caregiver Volunteers is holding their 8th annual Caring Classic Golf Outing on May 12th at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood .  Registration and lunch begin at noon , followed by Shotgun start at 1:30 pm with a scramble format, dinner, awards and prizes begin at 5:30 p.m. Every golfer will have an opportunity to Beat the Pro and play golf with one of 11 former NFL football players. The Family Planning Center of Ocean County will holdtheir 16th Annual “Look Who’s Cooking” food-tasting festival that will take place on June 6th, from 6 - 8 pm at the Christ Episcopal Church, Washington Street in Toms River . The Lakewood BlueClaws will host Breast Cancer Awareness Day on May 18th. Komen for the Cure Foundation. Cook for the Cure is an ongoing fundraising initiative sponsored by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation and KithenAid.
